Frequently asked questions
When is the Safety Score going live?
We would like to thank everyone for their time, effort and patience as we developed the Safety Score in the past two years. We appreciate the time spent to learn how the new Safety Score works and to provide feedback, which has made the Safety Score a service created through industry collaboration.
Thanks to your feedback, our team has spent time to enhancing the score, building upon the beta version which was provided to our customers in July 2020. We are now ready for the industry to review the Safety Score again in its beta version. We aim to launch the Safety Score in Q1 2021, and we will announce the go live date closer to the time.
What's happening to the Risk Rating?
The Risk Rating continues to be available in Qi and must be used for all commercial or risk decisions until the Safety Score goes live. With the launch of the Safety Score, the Risk Rating and Qi will be retired. RightShip customers will log into the new RightShip Platform instead, where they can access the Safety Score.
How can I find out more information about the Safety Score?
We will continue to upload more content to this website, and we will be in email communication with our customers. We are asking non-customers to register to receive emails from us so they can be kept up to date with new content as it is released.
Where can I learn about how the Safety Score works?
Please go to the knowledge centre or watch our videos explaining how the Safety Score works on a series of demonstration vessels. These vessels have been designed to show the effects of the Safety Score rules and various sub scores.
What is a "beta version" of the Safety Score?
The beta version of the Safety Score will provide an initial indication of what a vessel’s Safety Score may be when the Safety Score goes live.
In order to help our members learn about the new Safety Score, we have built a "beta" or "under construction” version of the Safety Score so they can see an indicative score prior to our formal luanch. Until then, this score should not be used in commercial decisions as it provides a guide only. As we are is still in production, the beta version of the Safety Score will be correct as of the 1 March 2021 and will not consider any new safety events or data collected by RightShip after this date. Therefore, the beta version of the Safety Score will be static and may be different to a vessel’s actual Safety Score when the new model is released.

Why has RightShip changed its services?
RightShip is working to become more collaborative with the industry. We really appreciate the feedback we have received over the last two years through surveys and face-to-face meetings with our customers and industry stakeholders at events and forums. We have taken this information on board and have designed a new digital RightShip platform. More than 100 companies have been involved and we will continue to develop our services with you in mind as shipping enters a new decade and a new era.
How has the new Platform been designed?
The new Platform has been designed with you in mind. We have increased the stability of our services through installation of sophisticated cloud servers and we have strengthened our data warehouse. The whole platform has been optimised for mobile and tablet, meaning you are able to get in touch with our experts from any location, at any time.
What upgrades are coming to the Platform?
The new Platform is more responsive, and we have improved the customer journey and user experience , making it easier to see important information and highlight those who are employing best practice processes. We have also upgraded to a superior advanced search functionality to improve the responsiveness of the platform and allow you to filter by vessel type, size or even GHG Rating.
What's new in the Platform?
We are pleased to announce the new digital RightShip Platform, which houses all our new vetting, inspections, and GHG vessel verification workflows. You can now communicate with our experts directly in the platform: we can request documents or information and you are able to respond and upload required details with ease. Our vetting customers can track the status of their vet in real time, too. This brings you much closer to our expert staff, allows for more transparency and speeds up all of our workflows with the aim to keep your business moving without delay.
